URSIE is a 21 year old singer-songwriter from Lagos, Nigeria. Her sound is a mix of pop, alternative music, indie, pop-rock with inflections of ethereal sounds. Her music explores humanity in its rawest form, through intent lyricism and storytelling. She's building towards Huimang (희망 - Hope), a vision for artist communities rooted in freedom of expression.
I create music that lets you be safe with the dark parts, providing a safe space even when the lights go out. Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. I started writing as a way to process influx of emotions which proved too hard for the heart to hold. I'm influenced by DPR IAN, WOODZ, Dominic Fike, Alec Benjamin, Ariana Grande and many more. My sound blends various genres combined with vulnerable lyricism that unravels what's underneath.
I look at music as a form of healing, creating a world where we are seen for who we are. I believe authentic connection thrives in the right conditions. I'm intent on creating a safe space that provides these conditions. I want to make you feel again.
Beyond artistry, I envision Huimang (희망-Hope), a future space for artists creating on their own terms, with freedom of expression and authentic support as a guide. It's a long term dream that fuels the dream I have for making the music that I make now.
My debut project on the horizon, I'm building a foundation for myself and for the artists who'll come after.
